That is was their story."

Goodreads Description

Who would have guessed that four minutes could change everything?

Today should be one of the worst days of seventeen-year-old Hadley Sullivan's life. Having missed her flight, she's stuck at JFK airport and late to her father's second wedding, which is taking place in London and involves a soon-to-be stepmother Hadley's never even met. Then she meets the perfect boy in the airport's cramped waiting area. His name is Oliver, he's British, and he's sitting in her row.

A long night on the plane passes in the blink of an eye, and Hadley and Oliver lose track of each other in the airport chaos upon arrival. Can fate intervene to bring them together once more?

Quirks of timing play out in this romantic and cinematic novel about family connections, second chances, and first loves. Set over a twenty-four-hour-period, Hadley and Oliver's story will make you believe that true love finds you when you're least expecting it.

My Thoughts

Ok guys, I get it! I can see why you all love contemporary so much! I can see how normal people not living in a jacked up world or fighting an epic battle can fall in love...they make their own epic advanture...together...

Wow. This book tugged my heart strings. I loved it. Adored it. Wanted to curl up with it. With this book I hit a new high (in my opinion) or a new low (in my non-book friend's opinions). What high was this? Well my friends, I read this entire book in one day...not surprising? Well I'll tell you this too, it was a day that I woke up at 5:30 am, worked for 10.5 hours, worked out AND read this book. I know. I amazed myself. It is a shortish book but still, I was pretty amped.

Anyways! With that said, you can tell how great this book is. It all takes place in a mere 24 hours and so much happens. Hadley (LOVE that name by the way) misses her flight and ends up meeting Oliver (enter sexy Brit) and they spend the flight talking and getting to know each other. Oh my gosh, their conversations are to die for. They are just too cute but also so deep and real. They both really opened up to one another and they are merely strangers. You can tell there is both a lot more going on underneath the surface than what you are initially exposed to.

Hadley is going to her father's wedding to a woman she has never met and the flashbacks we get on how she got here were great. We really see her emotional journey that she has had with her father. It is heartbreaking. You really feel for Hadley and her situation and my emotions were definitely in tune with hers. Oliver is just too funny. He is witty and charming but complex as well. We do not get to know everything about him at first but when we do get more of him, it is awesome!

The writing in this book is right on. My favorite part was Hadley's internal monologue of how much she wished she could have her own story of meeting a cute guy on an airplane and talking the whole flight, but she tells herself that she knows stuff like that doesn't happen in real life...especially to her. I LOVED this. I can relate to this as so many other women can. We all want our own fairy tale, our own adventure, our own story. I think like this all the time. 'Oh wouldn't it be great if I met my future husband doing such and such or on this vacation.' Yeah, but that never happens...but to Hadley it does :) This was personally my favorite part of the book. So subtle yet its grasp is huge. Love love love.

OH and I have to add another one of my favorite quotes from the book and it is this--

"The word like the opening of some door,
like an ending and a beginning,
 like a wish."
-page 168

Uggggh, how amazing is that?! I don't know why, it is just so beautiful to me, I read it about 10 times...don't judge. Favorite. I added it on Goodreads as a favorite quote if you wanna like it, too. Haha

I was disappointed in my first round with contemporary but this book sealed the deal. I will definitely be opening up more to books like this. I will definitely be checking out more of this author's books. I just loved it. Short, sweet, adorable, and love...who doesn't love love? :)

  5. I feel like a loser for not loving it more than I did, but that might just be because I'm more of a paranormal girl!!! BUT... I do seem to be the minority. Everyone I talk to loved it! My favorite part was when Hadley saw the pictures in a picture of her father's office. I cried, even though I was still feeling bitter and angry!! I don't hold grudges *at all*. ;)
