Top Ten Books When You Need Something Light & Fun

"Why so serious?......" OK, sorry, I'm a geek at heart and I HAD to quote The Joker when talking about our favorite books that are fun and lighthearted. I am the queen of dark, twisted and messed up books. I pretty much only really enjoy contemporaries when they have a deeply emotionally damaged character. Makes it more real. But there are times that you just need a break. Gotta mix in some fun ones and lighten up your reading aura. So here are my Top Ten favorite books when you need something fun :)

1. Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar--OBVI! These books have more drama than normal but at the core of them theses are fun as all hell to read. The clothing, the parties, the gossip ;). It's just fun and I adored reading these when I was in high school.

2. The It Girl series by Cecily von Ziegesar--Same thing. Clothes, boys, parties, shenanigans and all taking place in a BOARDING SCHOOL!!! Holla! I should be embarrassed to admit how much I like these books but I can't. I adore these.

3. Enchanted, Inc. series by Shanna Swedson--It's like a twisted Harry Potter in the adult world. Magic, wizards, love, drama. All very fun and I love the characters. The books are cute and the plot moves quickly. Total vacay read.

4. Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella--I LOVED this book. It is hilarious! Witty, well-written and the characters totally lovable.

5. Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella--Same thing. I'm gonna add at least one more book of hers because she is one of my go-to authors for a fun read :)

6. Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella--Obvi. Book is SO much better than the movie and while I haven't read the follow-up novels but I loved this one.

7. One Fifth Avenue by Candace Bushnell--This one does have a little more drama and high stakes but I loved it. The upper society parties and scandals are always a joy to read about...as well as fantasize about living as one :)

8. The End of the World As We Know It by Iva-Marie Palmer--I was so lucky to read this as part of the blog tour and is is HILARIOUS. Oh my gosh. The characters are amazingly written, the story is intense but damn if it is not so perfectly funny. Like laugh out loud at multiple points hilarious! Loved it!

9. The A-List by Zoey Dean--Read these in high school...with my mom (haha), and they are so good! So much high school drama and gossip, they are just great.

10. Rapunzel Untangled by Cindy C. Bennett--This one was adorable! I loved the new take on Rapunzel, I love all fairy tale re-tellings and while this one fell a little short at the end, I still loved it. Super fun.

Can't wait to see what you guys pick and what I can add to my TBR list when I'm in the mood for something fun!

  8. How could I forget the Gossip Girl books?? Seriously, I don't understand :) Ii's been a while since I read one of the boos, so maybe that's why :) Anyway, I really neeed to read the entire series (someday) and some of Sophie Kinsella's books (probably someday sooner!). Have you read one of Meg Cabot's books? Because both her YA and her adult novels are really funny, light and fluffy!

  9. Yay for so many Sophie Kinsella books! She's been on sooo many lists today. You should def read the next few Shopaholic books; they get a little repetitive after a while, but are still fun!

  10. I have not read the Sophie Kinsella books you mention on your list, but I had to add Twenties Girl to my own list, which I think is probably one of the most hilarious books I have ever read. :)

  11. Okay, so I've only read one book on your list - the first Gossip Girl. I didn't care for it much because I didn't really like any of the characters. But they are light, and they can be fun, seeing how these filthy rich kids live.

I've seen Sophie Kinsella's books around a lot today. I should look into them.

    Thanks for sharing!

  18. I used to be IN LOVE with the Gossip Girl / It Girl books. I actually like It Girl a lot better, it must be the boarding school setting. So fun! I also really enjoyed Enchanted Inc but I don't think I ever read the fourth book. I should really get to it! And all Sophie Kinsella books make me feel good, but her Shopaholic series especially :) (Apart from the last one, which I didn't like.)
