RSVP Early To...The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Ok, so I recently read Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer--review up next week--and The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski. I LOVED both of these. I've been trying to be creative and add more variety to the blog and after reading TWC and remembering it doesn't come out until MARCH when I want to flail with everyone NOW I wanted a way to pay special attention to those books I am so fortunate to read early and love. SO staying with my Belle and Beauty and the Beast theme I have thought up...RSVP Early To & Fashionably Late To...see what I did there?

Nowhere But Home will be featured as my first Fashionably Late post--you know those books you hear about and for some reason don't read right away...and then you do and you want to KICK YOUSELF IN THE FACE for not reading sooner. That will be that books BUT this is my first RSVP Early To...The Winner's Curse...

Genre: YA Fantasy
Publisher: Farrar, Straus, & Giroux, 355 pages
Publication Date: March 4th, 2014
Goodreads Description

Winning what you want may cost you everything you love As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin’s eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined. Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.

The Winner's Curse is a book that didn't let me move, get up, drink, or eat for the roughly 5 hours it took me to read it. I could NOT put it down. It is a fantastic world of high fantasy that is written beautifully and will have your emotions wound around it's finger almost instantly. This book has amazing juxtaposition of love and brutality, pride and compassion, loyalty to family and the morality of doing the right thing. It is a plot that will have your heart racing, swooning, and stopping at multiple points.

Need more reasons why you should read The Winner's Curse?...I'll break it down for you:

Forbidden Love
An Intelligent Political Drama
Kickass Heroine
Swoony Hero
Heart-Racing Plot
Moral Dilemmas

And those are just a few. I flail over this book and cannot WAIT for it to be released into the wild because it is just that good. I can't say more because I don't want to give anything else away! Mark this book as one to watch and get as soon as you can. If you're a lover of fantasy or want a good fantasy book to start delving into the genre...this is it.
